Noordam’s 14-day voyage embarks in Auckland, calling at six ports in New Zealand where guests can stop before sailing through Fiordland National Park. The ship then sails to three Australian ports including Hobart, the creative capital of Tasmania, cosmopolitan Melbourne and metropolis Sydney, where guests disembark.
Itinerary Highlights
Tauranga, the principal city of the Bay of Plenty is a popular Kiwi summer resort with notorious military and missionary legacies. Its legendary Waitomo Caves comprises a vast underground network of water-sculpted, cathedral-like limestone grottoes. Big-game fishing and scuba diving abounds.
Napier has a perfect mix of natural and manmade beauty. The historic district, which was mostly constructed in the 1930s after a massive earthquake and subsequent fires destroyed the city in 1931, was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.
Whether you want to ski or swim, Christchurch is an ideal jumping-off point from which to enjoy all the South Island has to offer. Like Christchurch on the other side of the Port Hills, Lyttelton was devastated and redefined by earthquakes in 2010 and 2011.
Strolling along the city’s hilly streets and past its Edwardian and Victorian buildings and green spaces, you might not guess that Timaru was built on the lava flows of a now-extinct but vividly named volcano, Mount Horrible.
Dunedin, a university town of Scottish heritage, New Zealand's oldest city is set around a sheltered harbour amidst a magical landscape. It possesses a unique combination of cultural riches, fine architecture and world-famous wildlife reserves.
Lakes, fiords, and snow-capped peaks - this is what you’ll find at the Fiordland National Park, which is part of the International World Heritage recognized Te Wahipounamu. While here, you can also trek toward the stunning scenes of Great Walks, with Kepler, Milford, and the Routeburn Tracks for an immersive and grounded experience.
Hobart takes you to huge attractions, where you can go climb mountains and view fantastic artworks all in one day, and just have the time to squeeze in some world-class dining in the city's dynamic food scene. Shop in Salamanca's weekend markets and take a gander at the artwork of the Museum of Old and New Art or the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.
