Tour itinerary
Day 1 / Barcelona to Girona
Barcelona - Calella de Palafrugell - Pals - Girona. Setting out from Barcelona, we first visit the charming fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell. Known for pretty beaches and coves and whitewashed seafront houses, it's a lovely place to explore. Next, we visit the Middle Ages town of Pals, in Catalonia's north. There's a fabulous mix of Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architecture to enjoy here.
Our final destination today is Girona, a colourful city, home to historic ruins, a fascinating Jewish Quarter and a cathedral to discover. Head out for some delicious Catalonian cuisine for dinner!
Day 2 / Catalonia's north
Girona - Cadaques - Figueres - Besalu - Girona. We're delving further into Catalonia today, heading first to the coastal town of Cadaques. The artistic and Bohemian atmosphere here is thanks to the strong connection this town has with legendary artist Salvador Dali. It was in our next stop, Figueres, where Dali was born. There's time to visit his theatre and museum and to see the castle or stroll down Rambla, the main street in the town.
Next, we visit medieval Besalu, which was an important Roman stronghold. The narrow alleys of the Jewish Quarter are also ripe for exploration, and there's also free time to take in the hilltop castle, should you wish. Then we return to Girona for the evening.
Day 3 / Montserrat Abbey & Sitges
Girona - Montserrat Abbey - Sitges - Barcelona. Our final day in Catalonia begins with a memorable visit to Montserrat Abbey, surrounded by towering mountain peaks. This is an incredibly important religious site, dating back to 1025.
We then drive through more of Catalonia's finest scenery to a local winery. Here we can enjoy an included tour and wine tasting. Our final stop of the tour is Sitges, a vibrant coastal town. There's free time to stroll along the beach or delve into one of the town's art galleries or museums before we arrive back in Barcelona, and our tour comes to an end.
